to go on was the party hat because it had a range of blue which I would like to use when creating my image and to test myself to create a illustration with one colour but it still give it a tonal range.
With this colour range chosen I then need to decide what I wanted to illustrate. I wanted something that can show muscles and was also relating to my other project in which I was creating a giant lizard monster. So I decide to go for what I referenced which was a Komodo dragon. I used a photo that I thought showed brilliant muscle movement and the anatomy of the lizard body such as how the movement of skin is affected with muscle movement. I also decide on this because I never drawn a lizard before and I wanted to take this chance.
Overall with this image I am pleased overall because I have taken my time with the image to get the best outcome. I first looked at the image and draw a basic outline of the figure to follow. After I was comfortable with the outcome I then went over it with fine liner which are no water resistant. After I coloured in the areas that pencilled in I used my water brush pen to get a wash of colour to get the visual appearance of shadows. Overall this process did work and I would like to continue with it in later projects because it looks realistic and also I have learned from this exercise that I should take my time with my artwork because it improves the image. I also continued this exercise by using Photoshop to edited the image into it's complementary colour. So I looked by a colour wheel to get the idea of what the complementary colour of blue and I found out that colour is orange. Again I will colours wheel when it come to getting colours to use for an illustration. So with a bit of tweaking I got the shade of orange that I was happy with.
Overall this little assignment has taught me about how colours are used in illustration and what to do with the colours. With this information I shall use it for further illustrations to come.
